Ryan Villamor is a Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner from International Harp Therapy Program accredited by the National Standard Boards of Therapeutic Musician in the United States. He is a jazz pianist, composer, and music instructor.

He received his degree in Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Major in Piano at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music.

In 2015, Ryan first offered therapeutic harp music in the Philippines at the Adventist Medical Centre Manila, where he supported chaplains in administering bedside therapeutic harp music for cancer patients in the Intensive Care Unit during his internship.

Through his passion for intrinsic healing elements of the harp, and backed up with the science of sound, Ryan has spoken about the therapeutic properties of harp music in different universities in Manila.

In 2013, Ryan’s musical philosophy was further cultivated during his tenure as a Waldorf music teacher at Acacia Waldorf School in Santa Rosa Laguna, Philippines, where he studied the works of Rudolf Steiner.

In 2018, Ryan conducted a presentation on bedside therapeutic harp music in Southeast Asia Music Therapy Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In 2019, Ryan was recognized by the Golden Globe Annual Awards for Filipino Achievers for Excellence And Noteworthy Achievement In The Field Of Classical And Jazz Music Artistry.

As a jazz pianist, Ryan has played every Christmas party at the German Ambassador’s Residence. He also collaborated with Manila’s leading ensembles including the Manila String Machine, Manila Philharmonic Orchestra Jazz Band, The Peninsula Manila Jazz Quintet and Tago Jazz Collective.

Also in 2019, Ryan collaborated with Japanese painter, Atsuko Yamagata in her live painting show “Visible and Invisible” at the TIU Theater in Makati. He played both the piano and the harp as Ms. Yamagata painted in front of a live audience

Furthermore, he has performed his original compositions as bandleader for the Ryan Villamor Trio, which has performed at notable music venues such as Cultural Center Of The Philippines, Ayala Museum and Tago Jazz Café.

Likewise, Ryan works as a full-time artist-musician at Ryan Villamor Music, providing live music for weddings/special events.

Ryan is very passionate in his advocacy to introduce Harp Therapy to the Philippines, as well as bringing about the convergence of medical science and music. He is committed to promote a wider awareness into this healing modality to the hospice-palliative care industry.

Ryan considers it his life’s mission to share the healing power of music to the sick and the suffering. It is his firm belief that music is such a powerful and effective medium in helping to alleviate the pain of dying patients, as well as their families’ through harp’s healing music.
