John Paolo Anorico
JOHN PAOLO ANORICO started playing the cello in 2009, and recently became a member of the UP Symphony Orchestra (UPSO) later in 2023. He had his debut performance with UPSO last October 2023 in Nanning, China. He was also a member of the Manila Symphony Orchestra from 2013 to 2023. He has performed with the orchestra in gala concerts, special concerts, ballet productions, outreach concerts, and tours including MSO’s first international concert in the 5th Hunhe River Symphony Art Festival held in Shenyang, China in 2019; and the Asia Orchestra week held in Japan in 2022. John Paolo is a member of the internationally awarded Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) who won 1st Place in 2018 and 2nd Place in 2017 in the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival held at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. He has played in many chamber music ensembles such as the Appassionato string quartet, semifinalists in Princess Galyani Vadhana Competition held in Thailand; and Manila Baroque Ensemble that regularly participates in the Bamboo Organ Festival. He is also the cellist of the Manila Camerata Artists that represented the Philippines in the ASEAN Music Festival 2019 in Vietnam and won Gold Medal.
John Paolo was under the tutelage of Giuseppe Diestro and Antoni Josef Inacay, graduated Magna cum Laude with a degree in Bachelor of Music Major in Cello Performance from St. Scholastica’s College Manila. He was Honorable Mention in Category C Lower Strings at the 2017 National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA).
