Herrick Ortiz
Herrick is a member of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO). He first studied cello under his aunt Remedios Isleta, then with Eduardo Pasamba and Herminia Ilano. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Music under Prof. Wilfredo Pasamba and Eduardo Pasamba (DCPMA) and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from St. Paul University of Manila. As a student, he was a member of the Philippine Research for Developing Instrumental Soloists (PREDIS) and the Manila Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO). Also, he won honorable mention at the 1999 National Music Competition for Young Artists. In 2004, he attended the Asia Suzuki Conference in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Indonesia; and studied under renowned Suzuki teacher trainers Prof. Hyun Minja, Professor Lee Si Ok from Korea and Professor Gilda Barston from the United States of America. Herrick finished his Suzuki training under the supervision of ASA (Asia Suzuki Association); and is an accredited cello teacher of Philippine Suzuki Association (PSA). He is currently the conductor of Philippine Suzuki Youth Orchestra.
